Clare offers voice and instrument lessons for adults and children at her Laurel Canyon Rock School studio.
Voice sessions focus on songs while using a proven technique that gives you maximum power without strain. This technique helps develop a 'middle' voice between registers, allowing you to sing with greater range and with no breaks. You will improve your ability to maintain an even and strong balance through your bridges and you will gain more strength and presence in your upper register. You will also discover and develop new colors and vocal stylings in your voice. This technique works wonders with all genres of music.
In the first session, Clare evaluates your voice to design a dynamic and customized program. Work on exercises will improve your range, pitch, tone and strength and is applied to working on original or cover songs. Performance skills and conveying true feeling to the audience are also important elements covered. This is a valuable stand-alone lesson as well as an introduction to Clare and her technique.
Instrument sessions have a modern approach using chord and improvisation techniques which allow musicians to quickly enjoy playing songs they love. Sessions also incorporate traditional reading and theory in all styles of music.

My son has learned soooo much in just 3 guitar lessons. Clare Diane is the best! Alison Benjamin had such a great session with you last Friday. He was on such a high and was practicing all weekend on the piano. Thank you for starting him on this path. He is truly happy. All weekend, he kept gravitating towards the piano……You are wonderful with Benjamin. And I really appreciate the kindness, support and encouragement you give him. Beth They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, well this not too terribly old gal is learning how to play the acoustic guitar because of the incredible tutoring style of Clare Diane. Wanting to learn the guitar for as long as I can remember, a neighbor who took lessons from Clare referred me to her. The neighbor couldn’t say enough good things about Clare. I was so nervous and felt a bit silly, but Clare immediately put me at ease. She told me that she had students ranging in age from 7 to 70! That sold it! And during our very first lesson, every wonderful thing I heard about Clare was completely true. She has an immeasurable amount of patience and finds a way to teach her students in a style that is best suited for each individual student. Her unending support and encouragement is unwavering. She opens her home which is her classroom/studio and makes everyone feel welcome. Clare is a special human-being and her kindness, honesty and warmth is part of what makes her such an amazing teacher. She’s talented beyond belief playing 5 or 6 different instruments and is a beautiful songbird!!! And she’s helping me achieve my goal of being an acoustic guitar jammer!!
